What’s everyone saying?

“Alan is a highly skilled musician and educator who has worked successfully with young people of all abilities, including students with special needs. He combines exceptional musical instrument skills with patience, understanding, and the ability to tailor learning experiences to each individual's needs.

Alan operates a fully equipped music studio in the quiet rural setting of Houghton, providing a welcoming and supportive environment for learning and creativity. He has extensive experience working with high school students and has consistently demonstrated his ability to build confidence, engagement, and musical skills.

Alan has worked successfully with my son, who lives with Down syndrome. Through his encouragement, patience, and expertise, he has brought increased confidence, enjoyment, and accessibility to music in my son's life. His positive approach has enabled my son to participate meaningfully in music-making and develop skills that might otherwise have seemed beyond reach.

I have no hesitation in recommending Alan Page to families, schools, and community organisations seeking a dedicated and highly capable music educator.”

“I've been learning to sing with Alan for the past four years, and it's been an amazing experience. He's calm, patient, and easy going, which makes every lesson enjoyable and stress-free. He's helped me grow in confidence and improve my singing. I highly recommend Alan to anyone wanting to learn an instrument or to sing.”

“Alan, I would like to thank you for your incredible mentoring of David over the past few years. It’s rare to find someone so dedicated to helping others reach their goals. Your insight, your skill in developing talent, and your genuine understanding of people are reflected in David’s achievements, his strengths, and his ongoing self-confidence. David is truly fortunate, and we are very grateful he has you as his teacher, tutor, mentor, and exceptional role model. You are also an amazing musician. Thank you so much for everything you have done, and continue to do, for David.”

“Over a period of 4 years, Alan has taught my son, William, drums and my daughter, Zahra, singing. Alan’s patience, flexible and adaptable teaching style has been invaluable to my son’s development in drumming technique, musicality and appreciation of music.

Alan utilizes the interest of my children to expand their knowledge, increase their abilities both technically and musically. I am sure my son would not be drumming after 4 years if he had been taught by traditional methods and certainly would not have loved the genres of music he plays. Alan is seen as a role model by William and they often discuss bands and the ‘how’ of drumming.

My daughter initially went to Alan to play piano - after 4 lessons Zahra wanted to quit. A quiet, patient conversation with my daughter, and Alan identified her love for singing. That night the mic was hooked up and Zahra sang her first song.

Not only has Alan taught her to sing, he has also expanded her confidence, even giving her the vocabulary she needed, “Thankyou, thankyou very much”.

We have seen a shy girl sing at half year concerts (10 songs) and end of year Christmas shows at the Hiive. But even more impressive was that Alan gave Zahra the confidence to sing at school music events and other events such as Remembrance Day and ANZAC Day. Alan gives Zahra a challenging song to develop her singing continually, and her voice and performance has formed so much from that first tentative song.

Zahra looks forward to going to singing every Wednesday night, even if she had a challenging day. The children feel “at home” to explore their creativity within the bounds of respect and safety, that Alan provides as a great role model.”
